Our commitment
Smile Makers of Georgia aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is the standard recommended by the W3C and used by the U.S. Department of Justice as a benchmark for ADA Title III digital accessibility.
Our goal is simple: every page and interaction on this site should be usable with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, at any zoom level up to 200%, and under any reasonable device or browser combination.
What we've implemented
The following accessibility features are built into the site today:
- Skip to main content: A keyboard-reachable link at the top of every page lets screen-reader users jump past navigation.
- Semantic HTML: Pages use proper
<header>,<nav>,<main>,<article>, and<section>landmarks so assistive tech can navigate them. - Heading hierarchy: Every page has one
<h1>and a logical H2 → H3 nesting so screen-reader outlines are coherent. - Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, form controls, dropdown menus) can be operated with Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and Escape.
- Visible focus indicators: The currently-focused element is always clearly outlined.
- ARIA labels: Icon-only buttons and nav controls include descriptive
aria-labelattributes for screen readers. - Reduced motion support: Animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query and pause for users who opt out. - Color contrast: Body text meets or exceeds WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Responsive design: Every page works on mobile, tablet, and desktop, and reflows cleanly at up to 400% browser zoom.
- Alt text on images: Every meaningful image has a descriptive
altattribute; decorative images usealt="". - Semantic lists: FAQ content uses
<dl>/<dt>/<dd>so screen readers announce questions and answers as paired items. - Click-to-call and click-to-map: Phone numbers use
tel:links; the address links to Google Maps for reliable directions. - Multiple contact methods: Phone, email, online booking, and in-person visit are all first-class — you don't have to complete the web form to reach us.
Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, a few areas still need improvement. We are actively working on these:
- Third-party embeds: Our online booking widget (provided by NexHealth) and Google Reviews widget are embedded from external services. We've tested them for basic accessibility but can't guarantee every interaction within those widgets meets WCAG 2.1 AA. If you have trouble with either, please call us at (770) 520-4013 to book directly.
- PDF forms: Downloadable patient forms are being audited for screen-reader compatibility. Call us and we'll walk you through any form verbally, or complete it in person at your visit.
- Video content: Any future video content will include captions and descriptive transcripts.

Alternative access
Every action available on this website — booking, asking a question, getting directions, checking insurance — can also be completed by phone or in person. If anything on this site doesn't work for you, that's our problem to fix, not yours. Call us and we'll take care of whatever you need directly.
